KeymasterGreat thread idea, I’ve been listening to a lot of new stuff. Album first, and then a Youtube clip of a song off the album below it. All of this is 2012.
Art vs Science – The Experiment
Blockhead – Interludes After Midnight
Shad – Melancholy and the Infinite Shadness
Del the Funky Homosapien & Parallel Thought – Attractive Sin
Quote:Four Tet – PinkI got this recently also, really loving it. Highly recommend this.
New music guys, please.

ParticipantA few hip hop recommendations:
Shad – Melonchally and the Infinite Shadness
Also, the new Nas album, Life is Good, is excellent.
I have also recently been listening to the album, ‘Far,’ by the female acoustic vocalist Regina Spektor, and I really appreciate her song writing, especially on the songs, Folding Chair, Laughing With, and Wallet.

ParticipantEli,
Did you hear that Clams Casino Instrumental Mixtape? Thoughts? I love that I’m God track.

ParticipantGot the Clams Casino instrumentals on the ipod right now. I like it a lot. I have not heard the TNGHT ep, but I will check it out.
Here is another (relatively) new song that I have been feeling lately: http://mellomusicgroup.bandcamp.com/track/you-know-who-you-are-f-olivier-daysoul-acoustic-bonus

KeymasterI just downloaded the new Wax Tailor album today called Dusty Rainbow from the Dark and found an incredible surprise inside.
Akua Naru is a guest MC on one track (along with Elzhi) called My Window. I doubt many people know who Akua is, but she’s a female MC from NYC that lived in Chengdu for a year or two not that long ago. We did shows together and she traveled around the country before meeting her husband (a German guy) here in Chengdu and then returning to Germany with him.

KeymasterQuote:Hyped for new Flying Lotus on October 1st.I can’t wait for this either. Thanks for posting that video, that was incredible. I was a Flying Lotus fan before but after seeing him at Coachella I am a huge fan now. His show was one of the best of the entire festival, the vibe was bananas.
Quote:Going to buy a mian bao che, paint it black with a red stripe down the side and drive round listening to this at full blast.Best idea I’ve heard all day.
Quote:Gotye “Somebody that I used to know” Miami NIghts 1984 remixI’ve heard dozens of remixes of Somebody That I Used to Know but I think this is the best that I’ve heard. When I was in the States at the beginning of the summer, this song was being played everywhere, all the time. For some reason I thought it was Sting, until I was corrected by a jiu jitsu black belt in Wisconsin as we were in a hot wings restaurant.
Him: “No, this isn’t Sting, it’s Gotye”
Me: “… What is Gotye”
Great song though, me and my roadtripping buddy got hooked on it like everyone else.
One more song and album I’ve been listening to a lot that came out this year, by Swarms. The album is called Low Sun.
Swarms – Forest

ParticipantSpeaking of remixes of that Gotye song, I really like this remix, done by a good up and coming rapper named STS:
STS: Cut Me Off
I listened to that a million times and though that it was an original. I was telling a friend, he was was like… yeah, that song is on the top of the charts in the US. I agree that the hook sounds like some ole Genesis shit.
