ParticipantQuote:Just got this album today, pretty good. I really like this video. Maybe this band Foals is well known in the UK? I hadn’t heard of them until a few weeks ago.Yeah, they became pretty huge very quickly when they released their first album about 5 years ago. Definitely check it out though, it’s called ‘Antidotes’, kind of similar to ‘Holy Fire’ but more mathy and avoid like the plague their second album. Absolutely awful.

Bertalan FarkasParticipantThanks for pointing out the Juan Maclean release, good they are still around
Have been listening to John Grant, Pale Green Ghosts. Found out it was produced by Biggi in GusGus so that explains a lot. I highly recommend:

ParticipantEvening all – near-Chengdu based teacher here (my first post) – pleased to find this forum and thread!
I see Shaking the Habitual is now streamable at http://theknife.net – slowly stuttering through it on my slow connection, despite the hype, so far it sounds like their least accessible album yet.
Also recommend Bonobo’s new LP The North Borders which was released the other day – http://ninjatune.net/release/bonobo/the-north-borders.
I appreciate being directed to the shop near the Leg and Whistle – picked up a Public Image and a Japan CD (bit of a New Wave / 80s fan) plus Miss Kittin’s first album for less than 50 Kwai.

BrendanModeratorQuote:Anyone else really excited for this?I want to be, but the deftly sharpened cynic in me suggests I keep it real. Plus I have the bad taste of Tron in my mouth.
As that same said deftly sharpened cynic I can’t tell you how painful it is going through all the D&B releases every month when +95% of it is utter trollstep (+rumbles), it makes it difficult to keep my faith Oh Lord (of the dance), but there be a soldier out there fighting for us…

BrendanModeratorI will add Ty that I’m keen to hear the Giorgio Moroder colab on Random Access. American Gigolo, Scarface, and a history of enviable colabs. Of course it might also be awful (said the cynic).

AMParticipantFirst track from Deerhunter’s new album. Album released next month.
RE: Daft Punk, have they done anything worth getting excited about in the last 10 years? If Thomas Bangalter was releasing ‘Trax on da Rocks Vol 3’ then I’d be excited…
Brendan, they just released an interview with Giorgio Moroder yesterday

ParticipantWell I look at Tron as a visually awesome movie with an even better soundtrack to accommodate it, which is all it is…a soundtrack, you can’t really view it as an album in my opinion
Quote:have they done anything worth getting excited about in the last 10 years? Not since Alive 2007, which is why I’m looking forward to it…although I’m a bit of a Daft Punk fanboy so that could also be why

Yea it seems like a lot of DnB artists switched over to almost all dubstep awhile back…maybe now that the dubstep craze is kinda dying down(it is…isn’t it?) some will go back to their roots. I really wish Nero would get back to some good ol dnb. Although Netsky still puts out some good stuff imo.

BrendanModeratorQuote:you can’t really view it as an album in my opinionNo, and I don’t. I view it as one of the most anticipated sequels (by true fans) of all time, with a soundtrack that should have been deeply integral to the movie. Instead we got what felt like half assed tired out once was. Some of the incidental sound work in Tron is fantastic, but as a whole the movie kind of unfortunately sucks big giant electric balls, and I hate saying that because I’m a fan of the original and was so stoked when I heard they were doing it. I even got to see the shooting of a motorcycle scene in Vancouver where the movie was produced.
Quote:Although Netsky still puts out some good stuff imo.I’m going to pretend you didn’t just say that.

RayParticipantVery much enjoying some older Vybz Kartel stuff. Talented, but he is a bad bad man. see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vybz_Kartel.
Not sure what the future holds for him…

Great Wall Music Fest on May 11 released the phase 1 lineup. David Guetta (meh), Andy C (hell yes) and UFO DJs…I think I’m going to try to make it to Beijing for this

BrendanModeratorQuote:David GuettaSomebody please kill this cheese grinned mother fucker who sucks arse as a DJ.
