    If I am a volunteer at a Chinese NGO (not foreign NGO), can I apply for an F visa if they give me an invitation letter with the stamp?

    My understanding of F-visas is that they are for employees, not volunteers. But I have also heard that F-visas are seldom used now and M-visas are preferred. One way you could be sure if by contacting Shanshui Visa.

    My understanding is that M visa is given to employees and businessmen, and F visas are given to cultural visits, visits of scientific and technological importance, and all things that aren’t covered by other visas.
