I am currently staying in Chengdu and looking at getting a tattoo done, I’ve been through the site and seen people have recommended Fishbone and others previously. Just wondering if anybody has any further recommendations for getting a tattoo done in Chengdu.

It seems a huge load of tattoo shops opened up left and right over the last few years. Most of them charging anywhere between 800-1500/hr. I wonder how many of those actually bring the quality to back that up.

Really, damn, I did not realize that. The shop front was still there, last time I passed. The closing of that place is the end of an era. There are a ton of tattoo shops in Chengdu now though, I have seen several in the Poly Center alone. The other day I was there visiting the VR cafe and heard the buzzing of tattoo guns nearby – another new shop.

Oh, in that case maybe someone else must have taken over the shop, if it’s still open. But those two artists are not there anymore. They moved to separate studios already like two years ago.

Anyone know any shops in Chengdu that are able to do portraits? There are dozens of tattoo places knocking about, so I’m very reluctant to leave it to fate…

The lady boss (Zhuzi) is probably the best artist in Chengdu and they have a whole team that specialise in different styles such as portraits and calligraphy etc. Their WeChat is zhuzitattoo. I am happy to accompany you if you don’t speak Chinese very well.
There is also another one called Qinggui in Tongzilin, it is the oldest in Chengdu but rather overpriced and I’d say the quality is around the same as Zhuzi and Zhuzi is more unique in their styles.
