Anyone know where I can donate clothes in Chengdu?

If nothing exists, anyone interested/have any ideas on starting a clothes drive here?

I’ve asked some Chinese people who typically just throw clothes away, even gently used clothes. Kind of bothered me considering how many people could use those clothes. It also appears there is a stigma towards using second hand things like clothes, even for the less fortunate. Would be interested to hear other people’s knowledge on the matter.

The American Chamber of Commerce does a charity donation drive once a year around January. When the time comes, I’ll post a notice here if you or anyone else has things to donate.

I believe they work with schools in village areas of western Sichuan. I’ll provide more details as I learn about them. Hold on to your stuff!

I know that in Shanghai they have thrift store type second hand clothing shops, (Cue Macklemore – Thrift Shop), but not in Chengdu that I know of.

There’s a guard/attendant at my apartment complex (门卫) that I live out who I give stuff like that to in bags. I’m not sure what they do with them, but they’re happy to receive them. The AmCham might be a better place to donate if the timing is right for you.

I think my clothes will be too big for children (or even Chinese adults). But how would that work since we are in Chengdu and the school is in Guangxi??

My club is doing a charity drive on the 28th of Dec. My car is literally stuffed with all sorts of donation. Email me and I’ll let you guys know where to drop your clothes. The donation will be taken to a village primary school in Nanchong, it is called 依阳小学.

Thanks a lot. My email address is [email protected].

There is  a HM in the old panda mall. you can donate there . It is at luomashi 骡马市. you can take a subway and stop at  骡马市, exit d . And  there is a alley right in your left hand.   And u can see that old panda mall across the way.it s only 200 m away, and HM is on the Third floor.

throwing away those clothes would be such a waste,I heard HM would donate some money to kids for each bag of clothes you donate, plus in china the most common way to deal with these clothes thrown by people is to burn them , great pollution would be produced …not to mention the foul smell….

if u really can’t find the place, you can pm me , if there are many people who want to do it , I can come to collect those clothes. And deliver to HM.
