Forgive my ignorance, but can anyone tell me what will happen in Chengdu during the Dragon Boat festival? Is there anywhere to go, things to see or do? Especially, will there be anything going on in the ‘river’ opposite the Shangrila hotel (near the bridge restaurant)? Or any events that are nice for kids to attend/watch?

There aren’t any actual dragon boat festivities in Chengdu that I know of, although there are special events at Jinli which would probably be a good place to take kids. A major feature of Duanwujie is zongzi, the leaf-wrapped gelatinous rice.

For the aspect of China culture, Charlie, you are like a Chinese and more than Chinese, knowing too much deeply:)
