Hello all,
I’m quite interested in living in Chengdu. I’m an ESL teacher by trade (CELTA certified, two prior years experience). Otherwise I’m a pretty well-rounded guy who loves to travel and eat. I’m wondering; does anyone have any leads on quality teaching gigs in Chengdu? In particular, I’m looking for positions including adult instruction, but I’m open to anything. I’m sure if anything panned out I could find a way to repay the kindness of strangers.

There are definitely teaching positions available, but a lot of the best ones might require that you’re here to sort them out. If you make arrangements before getting here there’s a risk of committing to something that you don’t like (school location, age or English level of students, management, etc). There are always English teaching opportunities in Chengdu for native English speakers and the certification and experience will make it even easier.
If you’re here and looking for a job teaching English, I don’t think it will take you very long to find something if you search, either private or on contract.
