I’ve become a bit of a Taobao addict over the last few years, and figured I’d start a thread to share some of my favourite buys. Please share yours too!
– Coffee:
My favourite is this Vietnamese brand, dark roast, and about a third of what you have to pay for stale coffee at Carrefour or Auchan. Buy 3 bags and get free shipping: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.360.QbY3yK&id=12240046129&_u=cv81lh1b23e
– Coffee, instant:
For some reason the Thai Nescafe is half the price and twice as good as the Chinese one, don’t know why…
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.267.ec5Wae&id=7569195438&_u=cv81lh1a2d1– Beer Lao:
Chengdu seller, 24 bottles with same day delivery for 169.-
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.90.QbY3yK&id=40178138012&_u=cv81lh1d216– Cheese:
Chengdu seller, next day delivery. Has both sliced Dutch Gouda and whole Edam:
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.344.489pkW&id=520453621161&_u=cv81lh1eb8d
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.338.489pkW&id=520560481831&_u=cv81lh118a4– Vodka:
Another Chengdu seller with the real thing, usually next day delivery (EMS). 70 kuai for 2 bottles of Skyy:
https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=36016116376&spm=a1z09.2.9.14.489pkW&_u=cv81lh1b02c– Lemon/lime juice:
Thai import, 20 kuai for a big bottle: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.159.yo4f1F&id=12826696168&_u=cv81lh147c1
– Shorts:
These used to cost 19.80 with delivery, now they’re 29.80. Probably made in a laogai, but nice quality: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.102.ec5Wae&id=43982925998&_u=cv81lh133b4
August 12, 2015 at 4:25 pm #47705Rick in ChinaParticipant70yuan for 2 bottles of Skyy? Wow, that’s crazy cheap.. I discovered “McCormick” sold Vodka which I buy @ 40/bottle and thought it was so cheap that I was almost afraid to try the first glass, thinkin’ I’d go moonshine blind or something.. how positive are you that the Skyy stuff is legit?
August 12, 2015 at 4:34 pm #47706OlsenParticipant100% positive, I’ve bought them many times, and I’ve bought the flavoured Skyy which is almost as cheap. I’ve bought alcohol on Taobao for three years, and the cheap stuff is always real, both Skyy and Absolut. The Absolut bottles usually come with their serial numbers filed off, but the contents is real. More expensive stuff like cognac and whiskeys are probably better bought in a store.
This gin is worth trying too, tastes more or less like Gordon’s: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.156.ISpVsm&id=37979480234&_u=cv81lh1bcce
August 12, 2015 at 4:40 pm #47707Rick in ChinaParticipantThanks much Olsen, that store is my new liquor supplier. 😀 Great find, shockingly cheap, I see they’re selling Goose @ ~150 (on sale) which is even better..
August 12, 2015 at 4:40 pm #47708OlsenParticipantShould mention I’ve bought Bacardi white rum, Jose Cuervo silver tequila, Cointreau and a couple of Bols from the Chengdu Skyy seller – also all real.

1kg for 37 RMB, makes decent pizza’s.
https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=36974622777&toSite=main— Salami (sort of)
100 grams for 11 RMB (+10 shipping)
But 65 for 500 gram is reasonable I think.

The girlfriend has been using this and is comfortable enough for her that she will actually wear it.

Some recent finds:
- QY7 wireless bluetooth earbuds for 100 rmb
- Basic flip flips for 29 rmb
- Duct tape in different colors for 3 rmb
- I got some Nike Freerun 2 sneakers for 90 rmb last week but the listing has already been removed. These listings disappear too fast…
Here’s a link to another thread with some great stuff: Let’s talk Taobao and Alipay

I have only used it on pizza so far. But I think could be good on a sandwich.
August 12, 2015 at 5:14 pm #47715j.slemmerParticipantDoes anyone have a good deal on bubbles?
Doesn’t have to be real Champagne, can be prosecco or something similar.August 12, 2015 at 5:19 pm #47718OlsenParticipantDoes anyone have a good deal on bubbles?

Her store is opposite Sichuan University on Kehua Bei Lu: http://www.cheers-wines.com/en/stores/storesinchengdu/item/273-cheers-chengdu1

You have convinced me to order some and give it a shot, but out of curiosity, what makes you say it’s real? The prices seem too good to be true.

Taste, bottles, experience… It’s probably not too hard to fake unflavoured vodka and Bacardi, a fair bit harder to fake tequila. Faking Cointreau, Bols, Baileys and other liqueurs, and even flavoured vodkas would be extremely hard to near impossible. The fact these are sold at a similar discount to the plain spirits are one indication everything is real, the missing serial numbers on bottles of Absolut another. They are probably imported through unofficial channels, but as long as they’re real I’m not complaining!

Yeah I know she has some, but I am not to often downtown and a Taobao addict anyway…

She ships, 10 kuai delivery if I’m not completely mistaken, just call or Wechat her. I’m sure there’s plenty of cheap bubbly on Taobao too, but the only one I’ve tried is a Chilean one witn strawberry juice… https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=45230626939&spm=a1z09.2.9.163.FucV6Z&_u=cv81lh1d831

Do you have a link to one of these? I brought mine from the states a year ago which was a pretty considerable hassle. I don’t regret it though, they are amazing.
