Yo Mo Fo celebrates it’s return to Xiong Mao with an evening of beats served up by Shanghai DJ legend Ben Huang.
Ben Huang was one of the first ever Chinese DJs to break into the international scene, playing in venues from the Parisian Elysee-Montmartre to the famed Zurich Street Parade, alongside the world’s best. He has shared the stage with the likes of Laurent Garnier, Derrick May and Ritchie Hawtin, and burned the airwaves on Paris’ Radio FG. Back home, Huang helped organize the ultimate rave event The Great Wall Party, which was the first to get permission from the traditionally reluctant authorities. Huang first broughtTechnasia to China and supported and organised Derrick Mayto play in Beijing. He also brought superclub Gatecrasher to the PRC. Ben Huang is indeed the pioneer of clubbing in China and has garnered praise and respect from his peers at home and abroad. His current mix work for artists like Faye Wong keep him one of the most in-demand DJ’s in China.

Ben Huang, 出生于上海的Ben Huang，90年代初毕业于艺术学院，主攻现代舞及美术，并从此踏上艺术创作之路。之后Ben Huang开始染指时尚界并充分展现才能，但同时他将大部分注意力转移到了电音舞曲上面。这是一个有别于传统艺术的全新世界，Ben Huang放弃了刚在时尚界崭露头角的美好前景，开始专注于新兴的电音舞曲行业。 在国人还在拼命消灭脑细胞研究什么是夜店、什么是DJ文化、什么是电子音乐的90年代中期，Ben Huang已经自学成才，以一己之力闯红了北京的夜店文化圈。 那是一个改革开放如火如荼的时期，国外形形色色的新生事物一窝蜂涌入中国。而在音乐环境方面中国尚未准备充分到足以让世界其他地方的先进音乐文化在这里顺利扎根的程度，所有“不一样”的音乐类型都在流入内地之前都被相邻的台湾和香港所谓“主流文化”过滤得所剩无几。 “当时没人知道什么是House音乐、DJ是干什么的。House、Techno和电子音乐都是当时中国的地下音乐。” 在大陆地区几乎没有Club文化生存土壤的情况下，Ben Huang运用自己的人脉硬是将其从无到有创造出来 —— 他从朋友或者电音爱好者那里，甚至托香港或欧洲的友人远程输送，搜集了尽可能多的舞曲音乐，在夜店和当时没有走出地下的圈内传播。 “音乐给予我灵感，而我会用音乐去启发听众。我相信自己对于各种音乐的第六感。” 不久，在北京及上海的DJ圈内，Ben Huang已经成为炙手可热的重量级人物。在两地的地下夜店中，Ben Huang对自己先锋派的音乐类型游刃有余，他的音乐震撼和培育了越来越多的派对人群，并增进了北京和上海地下音乐人之间的交流，更代表中国将自己的音乐推广到美国底特律甚至是德国柏林。 Ben Huang将北京那种年轻质朴的音乐介绍给“真正的”国际知名夜店，他的音乐给欧洲派对的推广者很深的印象，使他成为成功打入国际电音舞台的第一个中国人，开始在世界各地巡回演出。以巴黎的蒙马特及苏黎世大道为代表，他总是游走在世界最好的城市中。他和诸如Laurent Garnier, Derrick May这样Techno教父级的人物同台演出，用自己的实力将巴黎FG电台的电波在空中点燃。 回到中国后，Ben Huang开始积极投入到“长城万人锐舞派对”的统筹工作当中，这是唯一从传统管理当局得到演出许可证书的锐舞派对，在中国电音史上有着里程碑式的意义。Ben Huang与演艺界大牌明星一直有音乐上的合作，代表作之一是帮Faye Wong（王菲）在其最新专辑的3首歌中完成所有DJ部分的混音。 Ben Huang是彻头彻尾的“派对动物”先锋人物，不论是在国外还是国内，他在这个星球上都有大批拥护者的追捧
