My husband just got his degree in Teaching English as a second language, and his dream has always been to work in China. He let me pick the city, though, and Chengdu is by far my favorite (from researching online, at least,) so now he’s started the job hunt. I was just wondering if any of you knew of any good/legit schools that hire foreign English teachers, since we know there are a lot of shady places out there. Also, let me know if you know of any places we should avoid.

We also have a 4 month old son and I can’t teach (no degree) so pay and/or the apartment situation is more of a concern than it would be if he were single/we didn’t have a baby- though we have some savings and are planning to live extremely frugally.

Thanks for any help you can give! 🙂

Start with the Int’l schools like QSI, Meishi, American School, Eton, & Leman to name a few. They offer the best facilities and competitive pay to qualified teachers. A mix of foreign and Chinese administration should be a positive as well…..

Thanks! However, he’s an english teacher with only TEFL (or TESOL, one of them), not the qualifications to teach in an International school, sadly! 🙁

PS I’m sorry for the grammar of this post title. I’m going to go with the excuse that I was extremely tired!
