A multinational logistics company with over 500 worldwide offices is seeking candidates for a project manager position here in Chengdu.
Hours: Normal working hours Mon-Fri with work outside of normal hours possible (and rather typical) as a managerial position demands
Location: Chengdu, with semi-regular travel in Sichuan/Chongqing and/or day trips out of the office
Salary: Commensurate with experience and salary expectations (at least 10-15K RMB/month)
For HR policy reasons I cannot put the name of the company in this post, but the company is a privately owned European freight forwarder with over 15 branch offices in China alone as well as offices on every continent. The company works with large clients in all industries including but not limited to oil/gas, IT, construction (EPCs), and manufacturing. The company has been in business since the 1930s and offers solid compensation and benefits.
The ideal candidate will:
– Speak fluent English and Mandarin with one or both as a native tongue
– Be able to communicate flawlessly in English
– Be organized
– Be self-motivated and responsible to work on their own without someone looking over their shoulder on a daily basis
– Have experience in logistics, freight forwarding, import/export, transportation, or related fields
– Have managerial experience in China
– Have experience working with or for multinational corporations
– Be willing to commit to this job for at least a few years
– Be seeking a job with growth/development opportunities within the company
– Be familiar with basic computer skills (Microsoft office, outlook) and familiarity with SAP and/or other internal company data systems is a plus
The position is for managing major accounts in Chengdu with duties including but not limited to:
– Transport operations
– Billing, invoicing, administration
– Daily and monthly reporting
– Managing a team of 2-4 people
– Satisfying the needs of the client 24/7
– Financial and operational forecasts
