Great list! Some of these I don’t know off the top of my head…
Callum (from Scotland) gave me some Primal Scream albums a few years ago and they were great. That’s a band that I hadn’t heard of until I came to China. A couple others on the list you provided don’t ring a bell but I will download them.

ParticipantQuote:Great list! Some of these I don’t know off the top of my head…It’s mostly indie/britpop tracks that everybody in the UK will have heard. A lot of the bands weren’t well known outside the UK.

A couple others on the list you provided don’t ring a bell but I will download them.Screamadelica is a great album. Produced by the mighty Andrew Weatherall. If you’ve got a couple of hours to spare then check out his RBMA Lecture.
A lot of indie bands at the time were into the acid house movement and enlisted the help of top electronic producers. An example, The Happy Mondays got Paul Oakenfold to produce Pills, Thrills & Bellyaches.
Another few for the UK 90s crew
Inspiral Carpets – This is how it feels
Carter and the Unstoppable Sex Machine – Sheriff Fatman
The Shamen – Ebeneezer Good*
The KLF** – 3am Eternal
The Prodigy – So many off their first 2 albums (I still play Break & Enter out every now and again)
* Mr. C was in the Shamen. There was quite a bit of controversy about this track at the time for its obvious drug references. On top of the pops shouting “E’s are good” and “Has anybody got any Veras?” Veras = cockney Rhyming slang for skins.
** Check out their wikipedia. Mad f#ckers burned 1,000,000 pounds in cash.

Just arrived in Chengdu on Thursday. Really keen to meet some new faces so provided I can get a taxi to the venue, I’ll be there!
Don’t suppose someone could help me out with the address in Chinese? Or even better, send it to me in a text so I can show it to the taxi driver.
Also, if there’s anything happening through the week that I could tag along to, be great if you could let me know. (I know, desperate plea for company, but I find myself feeling a wee bit isolated.)
If not, hopefully see you all on Friday.
Cheers,
Sandi

When you walk inside the main gate (it’s huge), walk straight inside for about 5 minutes and you’ll see a 7-11 on your left. Take a right there (away from the 7-11) and you’ll see Xiong Mao in front of you.
