    Hi Everyone,

Nice to see English websites again after a year of everything-Korean, here in Yanji, North Eastern part of China.

I have been working in Shanghai for the last 5 years doing BD jobs, restaurant/bar/hotel managing, and retail. Then got hijacked by a HK investor who owns a hotel and bar in Yanji, offered me a great package that made me accept relocating to a place where winter season gets to -30 degrees. The city uses Korean as their main language and not Mandarin. To cut things short, everything here is Korean. The food, the bars, their way of life, tv channels… everything. A city where English is totally useless. I survived however for speaking Mandarin.

And now, after 12 long months, it’s time to get  back to reality.

I am planning to move to Chengdu in 5 days and try my luck landing a job there.

It would also be nice if I get some opinion from foreigners in Chengdu.

A few information would be greatly appreciated

    – which district should I choose to live at, and where can I find expat bars and restaurants

    – how much money  will it cost me to rent one bedroom flat about 50m2

    – what are my chances on finding a job ( I have noticed that 80% of jobs in Chengdu are mostly teaching jobs)

Hope to hear from anyone real soon. I have not booked my ticket yet, so there is still some time to back out.

PS. I am going to Chengdu with my Chinese Fiancee and she is from Sichuan, Leshan

    I am a mixed Filipino/Chinese 🙂

    Thanks in advance…

    Hi Jerry,

2000rmb seem fine… can you tell me which district and street to start looking? Probably somewhere close to bars and restos while close to metro station? Thanks in advance…
