New to Chengdu, Rent? Transportation?

Hey guys,

Not sure if this topic is covered yet, but i am searching and i have a few questions for a western person with exp in Chengdu.

Lets say if i decide to move there, for work, what is to be expected? I can ask my company i am in contact with, but after X amount of years working, i rather ask others than my future boss (sometimes they have hidden agenda… Well all the time).

What is expected in rent and the locations? I read around here that the North end seems to be cheapest, but not prone to ‘tourists.’ Which is ideal for a slow pace life. How does this compare to the DT district?

Also, would it be advisable to get a motorbike vs taxi or public transportation? There is a huge variable of time between each, if someone wants to get to point A to B asap.
