you just need to download few APP in your cellphone like:baidu map,gaode map.and setting the language as English.

or you can’t download these APP?

I’ve had a hard time finding a “master map” but if you search for directions on Baidu maps, it’ll have the buses you need to take.

That being said, I’m not even sure that the drivers know where they’re actually going…

There’s a HUGE QR code set up at every bus stop. I haven’t scanned it yet, but I think it’s supposed to provide a map and estimates about when buses are arriving.
