I’ll be coming to Chengdu in July and have been researching on how to relocate my yorkshire terrier. I’m coming in from West Africa (Ghana) and the transit, change of flights and travel time are all posing great challenges for me so far. Any advise?

It’s going to cost you and arm and a leg and be an enormous hassle. Your dog will require a lot of paperwork, fees, and will go into a minimum of 30 days quarantine. I was at the pet market in Chengdu recently and asked about the price of a huge white cat that I saw there. The vendor said “Oh, this one’s really expensive”. I asked how much and she said 100,000 rmb (which is about $15,000 US Dollars). I asked why it was so much and went on about how the cat is imported from America and the fees and procedure to get the cat here is insanely difficult and expensive.

Perhaps someone on here will be able to share first hand experience. Here’s some more information: Importing a Pet Into China
