Hi I have had a bad case of heat rash (prickly heat or hives) for the past 3 months which is a long time, I got it in the summer when I was dying with the heat. I have never had this type of rash before mainly on the back of my body everything else is fine. I have tried powder and some herbal ointment which eases the itching but that is it.

Can anyone recommend a product and where I can buy something because it is driving me insane.

Also does the water change in Chengdu during the summer because I don’t know why I have this rash and it hasn’t gotten worse but it is still there.

Thanks I really need help with this.

Where did you pick up the rash Diamond? It may have been picked up from a bad water supply? You might want to head to a doctor to have it tested. At least then you’ve identified it, and can treat it accordingly.

I had something similar several years ago, though for the life of me I can’t remember what it was diagnosed as! I was prescribed an antibacterial ointment that took care of it fairly quickly, though it did remain sensitive for some time following. Get it seen to sooner, rather than later.

I suggest you go to a hospital and get that diagnosed. Without a diagnosis it’s gonna be difficult to treat because there’s all sorts of things that could be causing that.

I had strange rashes a few years ago as well, turns out it was from a house pet. I got it diagnosed at Huaxi hospital and it was gone shortly afterwards.

Are they blisters or milder? Local? Rose pattern? Better get it checked out at a clinic.

Might also want to check laundry detergent – recently my maid changed my laundry detergent to something that was “cheaper” *sigh* and it caused me to get a few little rashy/itchy bumps, changed back and it went away – not 100% positive that was the cause…..it was also during the summer, but it seemed to be timed right and went away when I changed back.

Checking laundry detergent is a good call, I’ve experienced the exact same thing myself upon switching, and I know of a few others who’ve seen the same response.

Whatever it is, definitely get it checked out though. Some infections will start in the dermis/epidermis, then pass to the blood, so leaving it untreated for an extended time is not a good call!

When i first arrived in China I broke out in a rash all over my legs. I have no idea what caused it but I took an antihistamine for a couple of days and it went away. You could try finding a medicine similar to Benedryl.

In a new environment the cause could be almost anything, or any combination. Of course go seek professional advise.

In the UK I was prescribed a very strong (and very expensive) steroid cream, after much effort (allot of which actually aggravated it) to determine I had some kind of contact dermatitis.

The doc here gave me a combination of; light steroid, antihistamine, vit c pills, and am antibacterial wash. It cost 10% of the UK solution and clears it better in half the time. After one consultation

Even without insurance , the consult and the drugs were around then than 50 RMB. Don’t hesitate

Hi thank you everyone for all your advice I got my friend to help me get some medication and see if it helps fingers crossed it does because the rash on the backside means I can’t sit down!

I had been in Chengdu for 9 months and everything was fine no skin or health issues at all. But around the beginning of July this year the heat was too much for me to take and I was out in it without any sun protection and was often sweating especially the back of my body. I never thought of using anything because I have never had any skin complaints.

I thought it might have been green tea as I started to drink Jasmine tea in June and that is when I got the same type of rash on my face so I stopped and the rash went away. However I changed to another green or black tea and the rash didn’t get worse but it still was on my back and thighs. It has been months and I have now stopped the green tea and see if anything changes but it baffles me that nothing happened to my skin until the summer.

The rash has been so itchy and within weeks after the weather changed to a cooler climate the rash has cleared up by itself from my hands, neck and face but the back of my body remains.

If it doesn’t improve soon then could anyone please suggest a western or English speaking hospital or Doctor which doesn’t charge a fortune.

I appreciate all your help thank you.
