They say the best tattoo shops don’t have flash art on the walls. Sellers in Chengdu know this, so they skip the walls entirely and lay the flash art on the ground, ouside. Held down by rocks, preferably.
I went up to North Chengdu this weekend for the first time in a while, and man, that place is street. It’s like a different city from South Chengdu.
If you’re looking to check out something new, cycle around the North Train station and take in Chengdu’s street tattoo culture. It is something to behold. I wouldn’t recommend getting inked there, unless you already have hepatitis and many poorly drawn tattoos.
