ParticipantHello! I am excited to be able to offer cooking lessons for folks who would like to learn how to cook authentic and delicious western-style cuisine. While I am not a professional chef, I have been cooking for nearly 20 years, and am generally regarded as a ‘darn good cook’. 🙂 I used to work for a company that provided similar courses, and due to their demand, I thought it might be popular to offer a private class out of my own home.
If you are a Chinese person who would like to learn more about western cooking, or if you are a westerner who has always wanted to hone your cooking skills, these classes are for you!
The evening will consist of two hours of prep and cooking, and then we eat! Each course will feature a different food theme, with multiple courses from that cuisine. You’ll get to DIY your own delicious foods under the instruction of an experienced cook who can help you get great results.
As far as my background, I am from the southern U.S.A, and I have had a strong food tradition throughout my life. I can teach you how to cook down-home American style food, California/Napa cuisine, Mexican and Latin American dishes, New Mexican cuisine, Italian food, French food, and Cajun food, amongst others. I can teach you to bake savory and sweet dishes, as well as top-of-stove dishes. All meals will be made from scratch (no pre-prepared ingredients!) It will be lots of fun to meet new people, and enjoy learning AND eating!
The first class will be January 7th (Tuesday) from 5pm to 8pm. The theme for this class is Cucina Italia – we will prepare fresh handmade pasta, ragout, meatballs, Minestrone soup, caesar salad, and enjoy Italian wines.
The classes will be held in my home in Tongzilin. Due to a small space, our classes will be limited in size, first-come-first-served.
All meals will be non-vegetarian. If you have any special dietary requirements, please advise in advance, so that I can accommodate you.
The fee for the evening is 300 rmb, which includes all the ingredients and wine.

ParticipantUPDATE: Due to a small class size, I am going to have to reschedule this class for January 21st. I imagine that because of the holiday, folks are traveling and out of town. Hopefully we will be able to host the class on the 21st! Hope to see you there!
