Thanks for the tip. The software version is an assault on my eyes, it’s so ugly and unusable. The web version is actually interesting.

Totally. I don’t even have QQ installed on my computers anymore. The Windows versions is fantastically bad, with weather reports, advertisements, and even music playing automatically.

The iPad/iPhone version of QQ works ok in a pinch as well. If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch though you gotta get on 微信, it’s a great messaging app made by Tencent. Probably Tencent’s best product. It’s like SMS functionality using your QQ number, no clutter at all and supports sending voice / photos / video.
