Hi guys,
So I just got my Chinese motorbike license this week (wouhou!) and I am now looking for a place to buy a second-hand bike.
I’m looking for something bigger than the bikes I can find in my town (Ya’an), ideally around 600cc.
Does anyone know of shops or markets that might specialise in bigger bikes?
I’ve seen people talking about the motorbike market on the 3rd ring road? Is that still going? The last post I found mentioning it was from 2012.
Also would you know opening times? We have to travel 2 hours to get there.
Thanks!

Looking for a secong hand, you’ll have to find a first hand … and that is not made of 600. I had the same wish when I first came to China. Then I bought a very cheap 250 and am now planning to buy a X5 (400). I’m not even sure a 600 is a good idea in China, but that’s another story ..
Second hand 600 is possible, if not legal … or just look for a 600 Benelli, you’ll find that.
3rd Ring Rd.. I started there, ended up buying a brand new one.
I guess cd.58.com or word of mouth would be better …
Sorry, that’s all I have …
May 30, 2016 at 9:47 am #50511CharlieKeymasterThere are a few motorcycle markets in the city, as well as a large WeChat group for expat motorcyclists. Add me on WeChat and I can invite you there. We also collected some of the most commonly-asked questions and put that information onto a website: CycleChina.info
Congrats on the license!

We’re looking for a 400 to 600cc but not something sporty so we can manage long journeys in the West of Sichuan.
Charlie, I’ve added you on WeChat and will have a look at CycleChina!
Copycat what’s you WeChat ID?
I think we might try visiting the market if it’s still open. We’ve found one 600cc here in Ya’an but it’s a very sporty bike. The best we’ve seen here was 250cc but we’re thinking we might have more possibilities in a big city like Chengdu.

April 19, 2017 at 9:45 am #52603AsturiahParticipantSo we ended up buying a new motorbike since sadly all the second hand ones did not come with any paperwork and we weren’t willing to take that risk.
It’s still worth checking the bikes markets, I believe there’s one North of the 3rd or 4th ring road (sorry it’s been a while so can’t be sure )
