Hey guys, I’m Bailey – I moved here about a month ago from the states for work and I’m loving it so far but I’m the quintessential college girl who is no longer in college and its been harder than I thought making new friends who like doing the same things as I do. I went to Mooney’s a couple Thursdays ago with a friend who had to move and it was a pretty good time (free wine). There’s no way I’m the only new person in Chengdu feeling the same way! It would be cool to do some going out and some adventuring around the city with someone who isn’t necessarily a native and is almost as clueless as I am..
Anyways – if you’re new like me (or not that new) and you like any combination of drinking beers, soccer/football, yoga, food, shopping, sarcasm, and current events post back or send me a message.
Oh and the last thing.. are there any ladies here who play competitive sports? I played soccer in college and I also like running and tennis and basically any sports..
Hope to hear from some of you guys soon.. Chengdu living is a great website : )

Welcome to Chengdu! I’ve been here for 8 months now, and although there are still some frustrations, I think everyone who’s been here for even a short while will agree it does get easier. I haven’t had a single Mandarin lesson yet, and I’m doing alright!
There’s plenty of info on hangouts here in the forum. As for sports teams, I know there’s a female touch rugby club in Chengdu, but not sure about soccer. There are a few sports connected to the University, so that would be worth investigating. There’s also a thread on the forum ‘working out in chengdu’, with info on gyms and so on.
Happy hunting!

Welcome to Chengdu! A lot of people go through the same thing after first arriving, especially if they weren’t brought here by friends who are already located within the city. You’ll have your social network up and running in no time though, there is a certain camaraderie among foreigners in Chengdu since the community isn’t huge and we’re so outnumbered by locals.
I’m not going out tonight but if you want to meet up this weekend and meet some new people feel free to send me a private message or post in here!
