    I’m heading out to Lugu Lake for the weekend. I’ll take the train Friday overnight to Xichang, then the bus to Lugu Lake. I haven’t decided whether I’ll plan to be back in Chengdu by Monday or by Tuesday because I’m not sure how long the drive currently takes between Xichang and Lugu Lake. Anyone have some recent info on this drive?

    We drove up in a car in February and it took about 8 hours each way, which includes waiting for 2 hours as the police cleared the debris from crashes, both on the way up and down. The bus that takes you up is ancient so be prepared for breakdowns and general fun en route or you can always team up with somebody and rent a minibus/car!

    Looks like this trip is not well suited for a weekend or even a long weekend. Going to have to find somewhere a little closer to home.
