ParticipantGuys,
My girlfriend is sick- we cannot make it this evening. Sorry to pull out at the last minute. Whatever the costs are, please ask Charlie to pay on my behalf, and I will reimburse him next time I see him.
Thanks,
Eli

ParticipantI am in, with my girl. Is this a 7pm kick-off? Cause I have an indoor soccer game at 830….

ParticipantIm so glad to hear you are feeling better, and that everything is ok. Thanks for posting on here to let us know (sorry I didn’t see it till now,) and look forward to hanging out again sometime.
Eli
ParticipantCharlie,
Is there a post on the event in the works? I would love to see your pictures. I did see some pics of the events posted here: graffiti battle pics

ParticipantSo far there hasn’t been a lot of interest in this proposition, so if you want to make that offer, it might win you the scooter.
Eli
ParticipantThats a fair point. I guess I am trying to do something altruistic- albeit lazily. I might need to work a little harder- since my offer has not triggered an avalanche of community interest – or I might need to be a little bit more creative, as I have been told that this idea has already been explored in a feel-good drama staring Halley Joel Osment: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pay_It_Forward_(film)…
Eli
ParticipantI have not… but please feel free to continue remembering me having done so.
Eli
ParticipantWhat do you mean you get 1100 ml for your donation?
With the recent scandal involving the Red Cross, I can definitely understand why you would want to donate to hospitals, or patients directly. Have you given blood in Chengdu before? Where did you give it?
Eli
ParticipantThis one cost 2200 RMB new. I would say in its current condition, it could be valued at about 500 RMB. It is not in very good condition, for a number of reasons. I will try to remember to take a picture of it and put it up here in the next few days.

ParticipantIm glad that the pug has gotten so much attention on this forum. I can understand people’s complaints that the food can be a little pricey, but I do feel that the service, atmosphere, and management is exceptional. So Im very pleased that such a place exists in Chengdu, and hope it does good business for the long term. It will be a challenge to find the right price-point to entice the student population that seems to dominate that shopping plaza.

ParticipantAndre,
Sorry it took me a minute to get back to you on this… I have been out of the country on vacation for a few weeks.
I understand what Rick is saying about the proliferation of people pitching things at AmCham events, but it depends what events you attend. Sometimes Amcham hosts really interesting events, like the speech by China Law Blog co-founder Steve Dickenson, which was discussed on this site.
I think for someone like yourself who is interested in networking and meeting people in the hospitality industry, it could be a worthwhile experience. Im not sure when the next AmCham social even is, but I know there will be some coming up soon. I would suggest that you email Tiffany Zeng <[email protected]> for more information about upcoming events, as she will have the upcoming social calendar on-hand.
Thanks for the interest, and look forward to meeting you in the future.
Regards,
Eli
