ParticipantAnother note; aquatic plants further complicate keeping a healthy tank; I’d reccommend getting your water and fish well established and some experience under your belt before you attempt this.

ParticipantKeeping an aquarium is a little more complicated than many people anticipate at first. When you start out, you’re going to need to cycle your tank water with no fish in it. It could take a while; see if you can get a gravel sample and a water sample to jump start your beneficial bacteria, etc. Buy a PH testing kit, and when you get your water right, you can start adding fish. Although the more exotic fish can be more appealing, starting with some more basic ‘tropical community’ fish that will get along together. Make sure that you get ALL the same community of fish; don’t mix semiagressive with community or they will eat each other. The internet has a lot of great resources for aquarium hobby that can help you out as well.
Although, I will say, if you’re not interested in investing the time and energy into maintaining your tank, it might be best to use it as a terrarium or art installation instead. Best of luck in whatever you decide to do!

ParticipantThanks for the reply, Rachel! I have thought about an IUD in the past, but because I haven’t yet had a child, my PCP was not enthusiastic about it. Perhaps I would have access to a wider range of pills if I had them prescribed by my doctor with my insurance once I reach China? Have you had any experience dealing with the Chinese medical system? Such as finding a PCP, OBGYN, etc?

ParticipantHello Ian – I am glad to hear about you, and I’m glad to make contact with you know. I will be arriving in Chengdu in June, but I’d like to start networking now. I am a jazz and blues harpist (also folk, rock, etc) and singer here in the U.S.. I will be shipping my harp to Chengdu probably in July, and will be looking for gig from that point forward. Since I don’t speak Chinese, but think that my sound will work well in the market, I’ll need an agent. You can check out my Youtube channel at Jessicatatejazzharp on Youtube.

ParticipantThey haven’t told me yet; I assume that will come in the phone conversation later today. I was told it was at an Etown center… Also, I will be teaching older kids and/or adults, if that helps you narrow it down. I am excited to find this out as well!
