Yeah, “Hello Mister” sucks. I just thought since I was in a small town it got that treatment. Somehow I thought in China, where there are a LOT more foreigners, it would be better. I kinda doubt it now.
I am sure I will get used to it. But it still sucks.
Do phones in China use SIM cards? Are they GSM or CDMA? I have both types, need to know which to bring.
That sucks. I am sick of being the token bule in Indonesia.
Um, I was told in Indonesia I looked like a blonde Justin Bieber. I was serenade by Indonesian teens singing “Baby, baby, baby Ooooo.” I hope it is not like that in China. I arrive the end of the month.
I was told Chinese are more used to foreigners than Indonesians.

Thanks. I think I will not be riding in Chengdu. I thought it was a hassle in Indonesia, the logistics seem like they are too much of a headache in China.

Sorry, what are 1st, 2nd, third tier roads? Do you mean toll roads? Sorry I am a newbie in China.
Also, I have a US license. Do I need a International license?
Sorry guys… I forgot. What about Internet in Chengdu? Do they have 4G? 3G? What brands are good? Prices. Sorry. I am a total China noob.

I have always found your method the most beneficial. I did three countries in 5 years and learned intermediate Indonesian and Korean and basic Vietnamese.
To learn a language requires motivation. Sometimes the best motivation originates below the waist.
