ParticipantHi Paul, thanks for your feedback. I’m sorry to hear you were not 100% happy with our services. You can add my wechat (Ukmichael) and I’d be happy to discuss the problems you have highlighted with you directly.
We try to stand out by offering highest quality fabrics while still maintaining affordable prices, to do this we mainly use domestic fabrics to keep our costs to a reasonable level. We are open about this and domestic fabrics actually does not necessarily mean lower in quality. Many shops in Chengdu and elsewhere in China purport to offer brand name imported fabrics, and unfortunately in most cases these are not the real thing, especially if the price for a suit is in the 3-4000 range, you can be sure the fabric is not legit, this is not something we are willing to do or have ever done. We do have one selection of non-brand name imported fabrics in our Chengdu shop, which is probably where you noticed the ‘Made in Italy’, sorry for any confusion.
As with any service there are a wide range of prices and service on the market, we do strive to provide the best service possible and I believe that we do provide value for money to our customers. In Chengdu and Chongqing we now have hundreds of satisfied customers, and we are always trying to improve our products, service and staff training. Sorry that this we didn’t meet your expectations and thank you for your feedback.

ParticipantHi,
1) All our suits are tailor made to order.
2) All made in Beijing and shipped to Chengdu twice, once for the second fitting and once again when completely finished. Total time takes around 3-4 weeks. We can do it faster in certain cases.
3) Can’t speak for our customers but we get really good feedback on the suits we make. If you use wechat I can pass the contacts of some previous customers to you and you can contact them directly for an opinion. (My wechat: UKMichael)
You’re also welcome to come to our shop any time and take a look. We always have lots of suits waiting to be collected in the shop.

ParticipantAir Asia flies to Kuala Lumpur and then on to all kinds of places, including India and Sri Lanka. Best to check their website and avoid the news.
United flies to San Fransisco, British Airways to London, KLM to Amsterdam, Sichuan Airlines to Melbourne I think, and Qatar Air to Doha. There are direct flights to Taiwan I think too now.
Chongqing also has a few choices like Finnair to Helsinki.

ParticipantHi Woodwerd,
As Charlie mentioned we have now opened a shop here in Chengdu called Suit Republic and we’re still working with the same tailors from Beijing making great quality suits and shirts.
The address is Poly Center, Building A, 1713. Same elevator as Helens, TAG and here we go.
Opening times: Wednesday to Sunday, 1pm – 9pm.
There will be a post and competition coming up on Chengdu living soon, so watch out for that too.
Michael M
ParticipantAwesome, see you there! Glad the job worked out!

ParticipantHi Karim,
One suggestion would be to download the app “Wechat” which has become to the most popular messaging app in China and used by all expats and young Chinese people here. You could use this to connect with people on the forum here and beyond, and make some connections before you arrive. My wechat ID is UKMichael
Gyms: About 1500 to 4000 per year depending on the gym. You need to negotiate pretty hard on the price because the ‘rate price’ is normally high.
Mandarin: Get a teacher, get a girlfriend/Chinese friends who don’t speak English. Use the app “Memrise” for flashcard learning.
Spicy food: Literally on every corner of the city, and locals will love to share this part of their culture with you.
