Very coincidentally I was wondering the same thing, except I’m British.

After Googling, it seems I’m going to have to go to Chongqing, but I’d love it if someone here more knowledgeable could prove me wrong?

    •Full time elementary teacher
•Start date as soon as possible
    •One year contract
    •3000RMB towards an apartment
•You must be from UK, USA, Aus, NZ, SA, Can, Ire and hold a degree.
•8500 basic wage, plus 1000RMB in performance + attendance bonus, and other bonuses throughout the year
•Professional, but fun-spirited person ideal, with the vision to grow!

    Email: [email protected] today!

We are looking for two teachers to join our new, gradually expanding team at American Eagle elementary school. Initially teaching a few small classes, 1.5 – 2 hour lessons, with mostly fun-spirited and often cute Chinese kids, you get a 8500 + 1000 in performance bonuses, on a one year contract, with accommodation allowance (which we will happily assist you in setting up) And contract completion bonus after one year, which can be used to pay for your flights … or just saved for a trip around Asia! And quarterly performance bonuses. This is a great job for someone wanting an adventure, but aiming to remain professional… yet happy to have fun!

The school is near the expat friendly GaoXinQu (Hi-Tech Zone) area, and from February will be in 9 Square mall, in the south of the city, (we are moving to a shiny new location) working with Chinese children with varying levels of English ability. The curriculum is English immersive, so you don’t need any Mandarin ability. It is in a great location, and near a subway station, not far from the airport. You will be working five days a week, Wednesday to Sunday (Mon and Tues off). Weds – Fri is late start, I work 2pm – 8.30 pm. Saturday and Sunday is 9 – 6. Included in your working hours are demo classes out in public or alternative locations in attempts to recruit new students to the school – we have the ambition to grow, and hopefully you can be the one to take us to this higher level!

The elementary school is new as of this summer, so the team is quite small – you will be the second or third foreigner to join, after myself, and we work alongside a small team of Chinese staff also. Whilst our school is new and the team small, we work very closely with the American Eagle kindergarten, which is very nearby, and that has been established for three years in the city now, and they have a very large staff body (including 8 other foreigners). Due to the newness you would initially teach very small classes – my biggest is currently 5 kids, although this is very likely to expand after the Chinese New Year, but the maximum class size is 16. You get lesson plans and teachers guides as well as a variety of books and flashcards provided, but generally there’s quite a lot of freedom within the curriculum to teach teach and adapt to your own style if you wish. The curriculum is American English (but Brits, Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, and South Africans, don’t let that put you off!)

There are a few conditions. Due to visa laws (unlike many school positions in China, we only provide 100% legal working visas) we can only hire nationals of Britain, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland or South Africa. We cannot hire other nationalities, apologies if you are interested in this position, and this is you. You must also have a university degree – any discipline is acceptable. If you are interested in applying or have any questions, please email me at [email protected]

If you’re going to be near the 高新区 (Hi-tech zone) area, I am currently one of the foreign teachers working at the American Eagle Kindergarten, which has pre-kindergarten international and bilingual programs, with mostly western style curriculum’s. Admission usually isn’t until about age 3 though, but it could be worth inquiring with my bosses, as the Chengdu branch is only recently opened and constantly expanding.

    For more information phone: +86 28 8333-6580

    Good luck.

So maybe I’m a month and a bit late to the party, but I’m keen on playing some football. Very casually mind you, I don’t want to have to take it too seriously, and I’m not a great player either.

Am I too late/thinking too casually?

I want to come, as I love the show, and the big screen would be bad-ass, but none of my friends here watch it, ah laaame.
